Reading for the Common Good – Spring 2017
The Society for Values in Higher Education announces its Reading for the Common Good program for the Spring 2017 semester. The program is designed to facilitate gatherings and conversation (a common good) in order to discuss issues or problems related to our lives together (the common good). Here’s how it works: Any SVHE member can request to participate with the requirement that he or she will gather 8-10 colleagues during the fall or spring semester to discuss one of the books (we recommend monthly meetings). Tell us which book you want to read and we’ll buy the books for you! The choices this semester are:

John Judis, The Populist Explosion: How the Great Recession Transformed American and European Politics: Hard to imagine that we could have a more timely book, and fits with the theme (at least parts of it) of the 2017 FM. Learn more at: The Populist Explosion

Lee Hull Moses, More Than Enough: Living Abundantly in a Culture of Excess: Different in tone and intent from Judis, but again fits well with our theme for 2017. The author also is one of our PLENARY SPEAKERS for the FM. Learn more at: More than Enough
